Brown: Glazing for the Wood Kiln It is said that potters often work with the many variations in the color brown. Red brown, blue brown, yellow brown, and so on...However, the potential for vibrant wood fired glaze colors is real and in this workshop we will begin to scratch at its surface. DeWeese has 12 years of firing knowledge with the Bray's wood
salt/soda, and will share the glaze palette he has developed.
Students will bring bisque ware to glaze and fire in the wood
fired salt soda kiln and participate in a 5 day exploration
of color. Demonstrations, tours, and studio visits will fill
our time while the kiln is cooling. No previous firing experience is necessary, but students should have some experience working in clay. |
