More is More: An Over-the-Top Approach to Majolica
Instructor: Rosalie Wynkoop
September 25–27, 2009

Drawing from Wynkoop’s own “more is more” passion for decoration and embellishment without boundaries, students will discuss and experiment with the bright colors and rich bold surfaces of majolica. Majolica beckons to those who love to paint. Whether the inspiration is narrative, geometric design, or stylized motif the richest dynamic surfaces are achieved with a passionate attention to detail.  Students in this workshop will practice basic majolica glazing techniques on earthenware tiles. These tiles will be used for more advanced embellishment techniques using china paint, fine point pen lining and laser decals.

This three-day hands-on workshop is open to all levels.  Lectures and demos will precede open work time and there will be firings each day.
