Spring Session runs March 29–May 17, 2022 (8 weeks) Learn how to take what you know and use it to get where you want to be in your creative process. Through group discussions, customized demonstrations, and individualized exercises students will build their skills and grow their artistic abilities. Whether you hand build or wheel throw, make sculptural or functional work, this class was designed to allow students flexibility in what they make while focusing on the how and why. Challenge your thinking and evolve your process in this engaging and dynamic class. Level: Suggested for Intermediate and Advanced students, but Beginners are welcome! | |
POTTERY TALK: ADVICE & ANSWERS (FINGERS CROSSED!) Inspired by the popular call-in radio show Car Talk, Pottery Talk is the class to take to get your pottery related questions answered! Bring your commonly run into issues, frustrations, and curiosities to class each week as Bill explains, advises, and walks the class through the ceramic process. Take this class if you’re a developing beginner/intermediate who wants to know when to repair a crack, or when it’s time to go back to the drawing board. Start each class with a demo, then receive one on one guidance, and conclude with a group discussion about a pertinent issue plaguing you or fellow class members. Level: Best suited for Beginner or Intermediate students! |

THE HANDBUILT VESSEL Discover the endless possibilities of hand building through the focus of vessel making. Sculptural or functional, conceptual or decorative, no matter your interests this class will introduce technical and creative skills for all ability levels. Students can expect demonstrations on coil and slab building, decoration techniques including use of the extruder and sprig molds, and a variety of glazing techniques. This class will utilize earthenware clay and low fire glazes. Level: Great for Beginner, Intermediate, or Advance students! |

ALTERNATIVE SCULPTING AND FIRING TECHNIQUES FROM ANTIQUITY Join long-term Resident Artist and Matsutani Fellow, Uriel on a journey along the Mediterranean shores to explore and revive ancient sculpting methods, coloring techniques and unique firing procedures. Throughout a series of demonstrations, experimental sessions, historical presentations and critique, the student will experience the predictability and randomness of the ceramic process, as well as develop conceptual and practical methodologies from a contemporary studio perspective. The program aligns with individual projects and will give some room for developing your interests and accumulated competencies. Level: Suggested for Intermediate and Advanced students, but Beginners are welcome! |
