Cups, Mugs, Goblets and Rhytons
with Joe Bova
September 9–12, 2015

Tuition $425 (includes $45 lab fee)
Maximum enrollment 15
Open to artists of all levels

Human heads, monkeys, rabbits, dogs, cats, alligators and frogs — choose your favorite and make it into a drinking pot. In this four-day hands-on workshop, participants will throw, pinch and slab build while learning to synthesize the functional form with animal form and imagery. Bova will instruct on how to use the repoussé technique in clay to form detailed human and animal imagery. There will be demonstrations of the technique of altering basic forms to become the figure.  Short presentations will illustrate historical and contemporary examples. Discussion about various cup forms, imagery and content will be ongoing.

Bova will give a public artist talk on Wednesday, September 9 at 7:30 pm in the Bray Resident Center.
