2015 Workshopback to workshops |
A Short Path to the High Road Participants will be introduced to a broad spectrum of ceramic techniques spanning utilitarian pots and abstract sculpture. Simon and Brady will be giving daily demos as well as interacting with participants on every level in this five-day workshop. Simon will explain her work in porcelain, which uses only a clear glaze and is minimally decorated by piercing and reshaping leather-hard clay. Brady will discuss his stoneware sculptures. Projects such as bowls, cups with handles and teapots may be assigned as reference points for group discussions. Participants will be encouraged to learn how to separate themselves and their ego from their creative self, ultimately discovering how to be an impartial judge of one’s own work and how to become one’s own best critic. Simon and Brady will give a public artist talk on Saturday, August 22 at 7:30 pm in the Bray Resident Center. Registration Information
