Sarah Jaeger

Sarah Jaeger has been a studio potter in Helena, Montana, since she completed a residency at the Archie Bray Foundation in 1987. Her attention to form and use of sumptuous glazes in her elegant utilitarian ware invite touch and use, integrating a sensual aesthetic experience into the everyday. She received a BA in English literature from Harvard University and a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute. In 1996, she was awarded an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Montana Arts Council. In December 2006, she had the distinction of being the only ceramist to be awarded a $50,000 unrestricted Target fellowship from United States Artists.  In May 2007, she was one of the artists profiled in the PBS documentary Craft in America. She has taught at Pomona College, the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and has given workshops at many schools and art centers nationally. Her work is in many public and private collections and, most important, in many kitchens throughout the country.
